Uptown Arts District Events

December was a busy month in downtown Michigan City. The Uptown Arts District sponsored a Culinary Walk on December 10th and a Chili Cook-off on the 17th.  Proceeds benefitted the Michigan City Main Street Association. The large turnout was very gratifying for participating gallery and business owners as well as local chefs. These events were part of the Winter Wonderland Festival in the Uptown Arts District. Remember, the 1st Friday of every month galleries, businesses, and restaurants throughout the Uptown Arts District open their doors to the public for an evening of art, entertainment, and refreshments.

1. A large crowd gathers at Walnut Ink to sample Chef Pat Molden’s cuisine. If you missed this event you can check out her fare at Kelly’s Table (located in the Creekwood Inn, Michigan City).

2. Six-year old Sage Grohs has a pretty sophisticated palate!

3. Sage Grohs offers his review of Chef Pat Molden’s cuisine. Looks like Pat hit a home run!

4. On the left, Ted Perzanowski (Talk to Ted, Inc.) and Larry Zimmer (No Place Like Home, Inc.) viewing artwork.

5. Julia Kasniunas (standing and holding book) teaching an art class to youngsters with special needs at the Southern Shore Art Association (an Uptown Arts District member). This class was made possible by a grant from the Michigan City Enrichment Corporation.
