Christmas at Pioneer Land

This beloved event was held 12/3-4 at the La Porte County Fairgrounds in La Porte.  Approximately 5000 children and adults visited Pioneer Land and enjoyed horse drawn wagon rides, meeting Santa Claus, and visiting the various buildings that make up Pioneer Land: the Post Office, General Store, Quilters’ Cabin, Black Smith Shop, and more.  Refreshments (including homemade cookies made by Pioneer Land Volunteers) were served in several of the buildings.  The weather was unseasonably warm this year, making this year’s Christmas at Pioneer one of the best on record.

Grand Event

December 2nd marked the 5th year that Dee Dee Duhn, owner of Customs Imports in New Buffalo, Michigan, has hosted The Grand Party as a way to thank friends, customers, and area residents for their support of her business.  Approximately 500 people attended this year’s event, which featured outstanding food (from Skip’s, Sahara, Timothy’s, Retro Café, and Casey’s Bar & Grill), wine, desserts, entertainment, and more.  The evening provided an opportunity for social and business networking and it is always one of the highlights of the year for those lucky enough to attend.
