Uptown Runway Event Benefits Art District

An evening of fashion to benefit the Uptown Arts District was held November 11th at The Pearl Theatre in downtown Michigan City. Angela Samila and Linda Weber, owners of Revive Consignments (and members of the Uptown Arts District) came up with the idea and Abigail Saylor of Elle Salon was instrumental in helping plan the event. The evening was such a success that another “Runway” event is being planned for June.

Arbor Hill Inn Honors Vet

B&Bs and inns across America (and internationally) provided free rooms to veterans on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in observance of Veterans Day. Arbor Hill Inn of La Porte was honored to host Gary residents Kay-Ali, Sr. and his wife. They were served a gourmet candle light dinner on the 10th and breakfast before their departure on the 11th. Kay-Ali is currently a 10-year member of the United States Coast Guard and also served in the United States Navy. He wrote the owners of Arbor Hill Inn and said, “Joining the military changed me for the better and has allowed me to travel and see the world. It has also given me a better understanding of myself and my fellow man. I will always be thankful for the opportunity to serve my country.”
