Chancellor’s Golf Outing Held

Purdue University North Central held its annual Chancellor’s Invitational Golf Outing on 9/19 at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, IN.  Revenue from the event helps fund athletic scholarships, alumni scholarships, and Alumni Association activities.  First place honors went to golfers Bert Cook, David Ortiz, Mike Mycka, and Jay Pouzar.   Plans are already underway for next year’s event, which will be held 9/17 at Sand Creek.

Designers’ Guild Presents Donation to Boys & Girls Club

On 9/16, The Designers’ Guild of Southwest Michigan presented the Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor with a check for more than $80,000 to support its ongoing Capital Campaign to build a new clubhouse and teen center.  The donation represents proceeds from The Designers’ Garage Sale held in New Buffalo, Michigan over Memorial Day weekend, which was attended by more than 900 area residents eager to support the good work of the Boys and Girls Club.

Dunebrook Opens Valparaiso Office

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Dunebrook’s new office in Valparaiso was held 10/6. Approximately 75 guests, including Dunebrook staff, Chamber members, and other members of the community attended the event. Dunebrook’s mission is to end child abuse through family support programs and education. Refreshments were provided by blackbird café of Valparaiso.

Dunebrook Celebrates the Royals

Dunebrook’s annual fundraiser was held 9/24 at Pottawattomie Country Club in Michigan City.   The theme was a nod to the recent marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton and the entire Royal family.  Nearly 250 people turned out in costume to support Dunebrook and the excellent programs it offers to some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens.  Dunebrook strives to end child abuse by advocating for children and providing positive family support and education.
